Nautical in The City

It’s that time of year. Yes, it is almost summertime and it’s the time when we all begin to itch for a little getaway from the daily grind. For us, our day dreams tend to drift to the beach and being on the water. It’s not quite a reality yet but why not dress the part? So. With this notion in mind, we put this little nautical look together so that even though we’re not On A Boat yet it’s only a matter of time.

Like? Want? When it comes to the Windy Day Jacket in Sunshine and Skipper Skirt then look no further than at Nordstrom. Beauty suggestions would be a fun coral on the lips AND nails, that’s right. Why not match two? Accessorize with the anytime of year, Balenciaga along with a great pair of wedges, then top it off with a classic oversized mens watch and viola…you are done!

 

 

Mother’s Day – California’s Goldie Girls

We absolutely love Goldie Hawn & Kate Hudson. With this quintessential California Mother/Daughter duo, it’s hard to choose which outfit goes with which sun kissed blondie. They clearly can share clothes and swap accessories yet still look age appropriate and stylish.

Option 1 – Dainty and Feminine Vintage

We saw this vintage slip dress on HarpersBazaar.com about a month or so ago and simply loved the delicacy of it. To bring it out of the 50s and into ’12, we styled it with the always amazing Jimmy Choo, Bottega Venetta and Stella McCartney. Okay, so this gal may be pulling out all her labels to celebrate Mother’s Day but hey…isn’t she worth it?

Option 2 – Whimsical yet Oh So Chic

Who doesn’t love themselves some lace? Hmm…we don’t know either so with the love of lace in mind we found this corset style number from one of our favs, Top Shop. Paired it with the Sanctuary Leotie Maxi, which has a high/low seam that is perfect for an impromtu mani/pedi and looks great with (the smudge free/open toe) sandals from Vince Camuto.

There won’t be any bag envy going on with this more casual ensemble, though especially when she’s carrying a gorgeous Valentino. Final touch? A classic pair of aviators will complete the look, and there you have it…an effortless beach chic look.

Now for the real decision, who do you think should wear what? With these two, either one could wear either outfit and look great! Talk about some good genes.
