Sanctuary in the South of France…Oh la la

With our Southwest festival days behind us, we are now setting our sights over seas for the next adventure. Where you ask? Ohhh…the South of France! Oui! It’s time to live out the inspirations of Sanctuary in April and needless to say, we are very excited.

Working on the packing list, we’re going to need:

Shorts

Warm Reds & Pinks to match the color pallet of St. Tropez

Chic yet Comfortable shoes

A throw over your shoulder & go bag

Sunnies

and of course: jewelry, sunscreen, bronzer, hats, sundresses, bikinis, and a light jacket for breezy nights.

Here’s a quick look what’s getting packed, right now along with a little foreshadowing of what’s to come…bicycle riding with the sun in the sky and wind in our hair…

We’ll be working our way down the coast through the vineyards, gentle valleys, fields of lavender and olive groves as we leisurely approach St. Tropez for some sun and beach days.

Sanctuary in Coachella Style Guide Weekend 2 / Day 3

Coachella. You amazingly fun thing you…it’s been real this year. Although, we knew the day would come that Coachella 2013 would come to an end, we are happy as we dance to the very end. For Weekend 2 / Day 3, it’s all about the airy clouds above our heads and sun shining down while we listen to the Brit babe, James Blake.

The Perfect Fit shorts in Cloud Air are our go to shorts for any occasion that calls for comfort while still keeping it cute…which is really any time, right? Here’s a sneak peek at James performance of his song Retrograde from last weekend’s set, which we had the pleasure of taking in and now we’re looking forward to round 2!

Sanctuary’s Coachella Style Guide – Day 1 / Weekend 1

Coachella is just a few days away at this point and we simple CAN. NOT. WAIT.

As we’ve mentioned before, we’ve been loving the band, Alt-J, for a while and more than likely so are you as the buzz around this band is hard to miss as of late. The one who we’re most excited to see, though is probably Lou Reed.

This may have something to due with the fact that we’ve been watching vintage videos in the design room lately like this one from 1974 in Paris

“Standing on the corner, suitcase in my hand.”

Moody and dark but still with a bit of whimsy thrown in because we certainly don’t take ourselves too seriously…come on now..

Sanctuary in SXSW Music & Style

We love Austin. We love SXSW. We loved every moment we got to spend in this great city, every sound we heard, and every street style we saw…well maybe not every style but full appreciation for it all nonetheless!

It was a whirlwind of a time but we were fortunate enough to wiggle our ways into a few shows as well as just enjoy the sites and people of this great city.

First band up was our hometown boys, LA natives, The Allah-Las at Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop. Their beachy hazing vibe was the perfect initiation to the festival.

Then the next day, we were able to see our current obsession, Alt-J at Stubbs. If you haven’t had the chance to listen to their debut album, An Awesome Wave, then do yourself a favor and click on that link.

Lastly…another band on the favorite list whom we were able to witness was the sister act, also from LA, Haim. (check out this video from the Filter Magazine SXSW’s Showdown)

Aside from the music, we also got to enjoy taking in the scene that is Austin. Here’s some snap shots through out our time

embrace the native inside of you and rock out with your fringe out

Just some little piggies on the street..but we did enjoy lots of Texas BBQ during our stay, as well

mexican food

and plenty of an Austin staple…the breakfast taco both morning and (late) night

Spring into Sanctuary! New Arrivals to Sanctuary’s Shop Site

It’s official. It’s March and the clocks are turning forward 1 hour this Sunday. This is all equaling to it’s SPRING. It also means new Spring’13 arrivals to Sanctuary’s Shop Site.

Sanctuary Clothing Spring 2013

It’s Spring time and SXSW time…we’re ready for both!

Taking cues from Mother Nature and mixing it with a dash of wonder, and a healthy dose of whimsy, our theme for this month is South by Southwest and it’s perfect for the Festival Girl in all of us.

The Austin Blouse in the wildflower print and western styled details looks so on-point with embroidery accented jeans. People StyleWatch understands it’s all about the SXSW look, too. The Hopi Pottery Charmer was just featured in their 24-Hour Cotton Runway story and this particular look is all about having a Southwest vibe to your style.

And now for one of our favorite bands of the moment, Alt-J. They have three shows at this year’s SXSW Music Festival. If you haven’t seen them live, yet…we highly recommend!

The Oscar Winners of Fashion 2013

Like so many of us, we absolutely love seeing the fashions on display at the biggest entertainment event of the year, the Oscars. This year we were really wowed by the body conscious silhouettes , the pale shades, and the jeweled metallics that were chosen to be worn by some of the most gorgeous women in film today.

Our personal favorite of the evening was Anne Hathaway. She always looks stunning and what makes her particularly appealing is her willingness to take risks with what she wears. Whether you like her wardrobe choice or not, you’ve got to give it to her…the girl has style!

The jewels, the make-up, the pale pink Prada gown…it all worked perfectly and she looked lovely as she accepted the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Kristen Stewart also chose to go with a pale colored gown. She looked beautiful in this shimmering Reem Acra gown

We also loved the dark silvers and beaded body conscious gowns that were worn on the Oscars Red Carpet. Stacy Keibler looked stunning and statuesque on George’s arm in this Naeem Khan gown.

Halle Berry, exquisite as always, in this plunging neckline gown by Versace

We could go on and on about more of the loves and maybe the “not so much” selections too, but we’ll just leave it at these were our top 4 of the evening. Who were some of your favorites?

Sanctuary in Neutrals – How to Transition into Spring

If you’re anything like us, you are ready to start wearing your new Spring’13 wardrobe…or at the very least start shopping for it! This is that weird time of year though where it’s technically still Winter because it’s February but March is a mere week away, which is technically Spring. Depending on where you live though, there’s nothing technical about the temperature outside, so if it’s still chilly or worse…really cold where you are but Spring’13 is calling your name regardless of what Al Roker is saying then that’s when it’s time to start really putting those transitional pieces to good use.

Neutral colors are great anytime so it only makes sense that they’re also perfect transitional colors from Winter to Spring. The Party Tux Charmer and the Chimayo Vest both were seen in fashion magazines back in November. In case you missed it, check it out…

These were great purchases for winter but they’re also amazing pieces to keep on wearing as the weather warms up. The Party Tux in Winter White is a season-less color and the Chimayo vest is absolute perfection for layering, especially when you might not need that coat anymore. Then, the Fishnet Sweat top is so great in that it’s easy yet stylish, modeled perfectly by supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio while she was out with her family last week.

Finish the outfit off with some great little booties like these by Jeffrey Campbell, then accessorize with an oversized watch. We’re loving this black one from Folli Follie with the Rose Gold detailing. Then, lastly a sweet neutral color on your nails and a simple blush to give you a bit of glow will finish the whole look off perfectly, we love this coral combination blush from Too Faced. The tropical feel of it kind of wills Spring into existence a bit faster. Right? Right.

For the past few weeks the Sanctuary girl has been been traveling through the midwest and western parts of the US, finding Spring inspiration in the wide open prairie skies, wild flowers, and all the stunning sunsets and sunrises along the way. She’s been documenting it all on Instagram, too.

Here are some of the favorites that may have been missed, so just click here to follow along on her adventures and see how her inspirations turn into the designs we all love to wear…
